4 Tips to Vacationing in St. Jean Cap Ferrat

By USDR

St. Jean Cap Ferrat is an idyllic holiday destination located in the southeast of France. Known as one of the pearls of the French Riviera, this charming location is renowned for its timeless glamour. Its tranquility, warm climate, and amazing views of the craggy Provençal coastline have made St. Jean Cap Ferrat the perfect playground for the international jet-setter crowd.

Unlike much of the south coast, this former fishing village has managed to retain most of its understated charm. Because of this, it manages to become one of the top holiday destinations in the world. The fact that its cobalt waters and amazing coastal views remain untouched certainly  helps!

Yet, despite its secluded feel, it is a short drive away from more contemporary destinations like Nice and Monte Carlo. That said, here are 4 tips that will help you plan an amazing vacation in St. Jean Cap Ferrat:

  1. Rent the Perfect Villa

St. Jean Cap Ferrat is home to plenty of luxury hotels and villas. Unlike other such establishments all over the world, you will feel right at home here. These villas are stylish but comfortable, set up in a charmingly traditional way. You will also have amazing views of the surrounding hills and glittering beaches along the coast.

It might be a good idea to get a villa with a balcony. Although this might cost you a little extra, it’s the best way to take full advantage of the amazing scenery. You should also consider getting one that offers spa services as part of the package. That way, you will stay relaxed and pampered throughout your vacation.

  1. Explore the Attractions

It is no secret that St. Jean Cap Ferrat has a lot of scenic attractions. Of course, the beach is one of the most obvious ones that will take up much of your attention. But don’t forget to take time to discover some of the scenic coastal paths snaking through the  peninsula.

While there, take time to talk with the locals and soak up some of their wisdom. This is the best way to find hidden gems that a guided tour might not touch on. The market in the Cours Saleya is one such stop for local produce, fruits, and flowers. Every Monday, it transforms into a flea market that’s full of beautiful local  treasures.

  1. Discover Local Cuisine

As a preferred getaway for the rich and famous, St. Jean Cap Ferrat has its share of top-notch restaurants. You will be able to enjoy excellent Mediterranean and Niçoise  dishes.

However, keep in mind that there won’t be many bargains here. But, with a little research, you’ll be able to find bistros that serve simple and well-cooked foods. These spots are the most popular with  locals.

  1. Enjoy the Culture

Make sure to fit in a trip to the iconic Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild on your vacation here. Set on a high hill, this mini palace is one of the most important repositories of art here. It is filled with an exquisite collection of 18th-century paintings, furniture, tapestries, and porcelain.

However, the gardens are even more stunning than the interior. Well-tended rose gardens and majestic fountains are set against a backdrop of dizzying sea views. The villa will be the perfect place to start your exploration of St. Jean Cap Ferrat culture.
