CD Rates Hold Steady

Read Time:6 Minute, 27 Second

By The Street, Special for  USDR

RateWatch, a premier banking data and analytics service owned by TheStreet, Inc. (NASDAQ: TST) reported today that national averages for CD rates of all durations this week remained unchanged as the Federal Reserve continued to keep the short-term federal funds rate at a range of zero to 0.25% since late  2008.

“CD rates showed no increase this week,” said Scott Gamm, TheStreet Economics Reporter. “Investors remain cautious on the timing of the Federal Reserve’s rate hike. On Tuesday, a disappointing retail sales report took investors by surprise, as consumers scaled back spending during the month of June, despite the dramatic decline in gas prices. Consumers seem to feel wealthier, but aren’t taking the extra step to spend the savings from the gas pump. Additional weak economic data could delay the Fed’s rate  hike.”
