Congressman Kevin Brady, (R-TX) released the following statement on the Michigan v. EPA ruling. In a narrow 5-4 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court sided with American families and businesses over the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) which ignored excessive costs in efforts to regulate power plant emissions.
“No family or small business wants to pay more for electricity because of Washington red tape. This decision is a blessing for those who simply can’t afford to pay more.”
BACKGROUND: The question in Michigan v. EPA was whether the Environmental Protection Agency unreasonably refused to consider costs before determining rules. The justices held that the EPA’s refusal to consider the financial impacts of their regulations was unreasonable.
