High Tax States Overwhelmingly Supported Barack Obama

The 10 states with the highest state income tax rates went to Democrat Barack Obama over Republican Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election, based upon new data.. Seven of those 10 states are headed by Democrat governors.

 

 

On a U.S. map, the following 10 states (and counting the District of Columbia) have the highest individual income tax rates in 2014:

 

 

California, 13.3%
Hawaii, 11.0%
Oregon, 9.9%
Minnesota, 9.85%
Iowa, 8.98%
New Jersey, 8.97%
District of Columbia, 8.95%
Vermont, 8.95%
New York, 8.82%
Maine, 7.95%
