In the Market for a New Home? These Zip Codes will be Pricier than Most

“Home Ownership On  Decline”
Home ownership has been declining since it reached a peak at 69 percent in 2005. Millennials are not buying homes in the numbers that their baby boomer parents purchased due to several reasons including affordability and preference to  rent.

“Charlton Heston’s Beverly Hills  Home”
The mid-century modern home built for Charlton Heston in 1959 in the Beverly Hills Coldwater Canyon area is for sale at $12.249 million. The “Ben-Hur” and “Planet of the Apes” star lived in the home until his death in 2008. It includes five bedrooms, six baths and a three-story artist  studio.

“One Less Headache For David  Cassidy”
David Cassidy, the teen star of the 1970’s hit television show “The Partridge Family” recently tried to sell the Fort Lauderdale home he bought in 2001 for $1.1 million but had no takers. According to the November 18, 2015 South Florida Business Journal, David’s home was was ordered to auction by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, selling for $2 million to a Maryland  oncologist.

“Worst Home Buying  Years”
According to the National Association of Realtors, people who purchased their home between 2005 and 2007 are still struggling with an average of only $3,000 equity in their homes. Compare to people who bought within the past year with an average of $31,000 equity or $138,000 for owners with over 20  years.

“America’s Most Expensive Zip  Codes”
Northern California’s Silicon Valley is the most expensive housing market in the United States with three zip codes in the top ten. The #1 spot is in Atherton, California with a median home price over $10 million. The #2 zip code is Sagaponack, New York in the Hamptons at $7.4 million and #3 is zip code 10012 in Manhattan at $7.3  million.

“Julia Child’s French Home Is For  Sale”
Julia Child’s vacation home in Provence, France is for sale asking approximately $880,000 (USD). The home near Cannes includes four bedrooms, four baths, pool and 1,614 square feet. The kitchen is a replica of Julia’s Cambridge, Massachusetts kitchen which is now in the  Smithsonian.

“America’s Most Expensive Home Gets  Pricier”
America’s most expensive home, modeled after the Palace of Versailles in France, is back on the market at $159 million – an increase from the previous price of $139 million. The home is located in Hillsboro, Florida, near a long stretch of Pompano Beach  condos.

“Median Home Prices Near 2006 Peak”
A nationwide survey of over 50,000 real estate agents predicts home prices will increase 3.2 percent over the next 12 months. The median home price of existing homes in August was $230,200 – near the peak price of $230,900 in July 2006. Florida developers have launched over 30 pre-construction condo and home projects and was the only state where increases were predicted over 5  percent.

“Top 10 USA Football Towns”
Some of the country’s most affordable home prices are also in the most popular football states. According to USA Today, the best football towns to visit are in Texas, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Georgia and  Louisiana.
