Carry the Future has launched an unprecedented grassroots movement by personally distributing wearable baby carriers and survival items to refugee families fleeing violence, oppression and persecution. Inspiring thousands around the world through the help of viral social media, this movement improves the lives of those in need and creates a better path for individuals to make a difference through personal actions.
Coined a “Me2You” grassroots movement by Founder, Cristal Logothetis, Carry the Future is almost entirely volunteer run and operates on a campaign-by-campaign basis, thus ensuring all resources and virtually all funds donated reach those in need. Operating without major overhead or marketing costs, the Me2You system is effective and efficient. Carry the Future hopes this movement will be an inspiration to charities around the world.
“I see Carry the Future as a launching pad for something much bigger than just baby carriers for refugees. I see it as a grassroots movement that is paving the way for Me2You campaigns, micro-solidarity organizations and peer-to-peer non-profit work. We live in a time where social media can facilitate the mobilization of millions of people, compelled to act, but unable to do so unless they are doctors or EMTs,” said Cristal Logothetis, Founder of Carry the Future.
As of December 1, 2015, Carry the Future has personally distributed approximately 7,000 wearable baby carriers and hundreds of relief packs filled with survival items. Each baby carrier costs $4.61 to hand deliver to a refugee. Distribution has been completed in two phases, each by a team of 10 volunteers who have traveled to Greece. Phase 1 completed November 9, and Phase 2 completedDecember 1, 2015. Carry the Future is currently coordinating distribution trips in 2016 for Phases 3-7, with locations throughoutEurope being examined. Carry the Future is currently obtaining 501(c)3 status and has approximately 5,000 volunteers.
Carry the Future began in September 2015 by a mom with humble expectations of raising funds to provide wearable baby carriers to refugees in need. Within days the campaign went viral.
