New Infographic Declares Current Optimistic State of Small Business

ByUSDR, mentors to America’s small businesses, has gathered statistics concerning the state of small business in the U.S. including changes in owner sentiment, growth in women-owned businesses, loan approval rates and SCORE’simpact.

Optimism on theRise

According to data presented visually in the infographic, small business optimism has increased substantially since Q2 2013. This is reflected in the following surveyresults:

37% say business prospects areexcellent

45% say business prospects aregood

57% plan geographical expansion during the nextyear

More than half of respondents plan to increase marketing and social media efforts. A quarter of respondents plan to hire and will hire mostly full timeemployees.

Women-owned Businesses Growing at a HistoricRate

There are now 9.1 million women-owned businesses, compared to 8.6 million just last year. These enterprises generate a total of $1.4 trillion in revenue. More than 1,200 new businesses are started every day bywomen.


In 2013 alone SCORE assisted entrepreneursin:

  • Starting 38,630 new businesses
  • Growing 40,175 businesses
