Paul Ryan, “Mister Speaker”

If you believe the media narrative of the last month, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) has finally acquiesced and has taken the position of Speaker of the House.  It has been a slow path to Ryan’s ascension, starting with the shocking news of Speaker Boehner’s resignation.  This is how the media is treating the  news:

Addressing Democrats, Ryan also called for renewed cooperation, explaining that a respected minority will “work in good  faith.”

“Instead of trying to stop the majority, they might try to become the majority,” Ryan said. “In other words we need to return to regular  order.”

While Ryan had kind words for outgoing Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, he took aim at the status quo and made clear he intends to change  it.
