Nationally regarded civil rights attorney, Allison Folmar from Detroit, Michigan advises parents of their civil rights against state mandated psychiatric prescribing for children.  Attorney Folmar won the legal battle against the State of Michigan by giving parents the absolute right to refuse psychiatric medication for their children.  She is a Human Rights Award recipient from the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, www.CCHRint.org

Recently on the Price of ADHD Business health segment on the Price of Business radio program, Kevin Price and I discuss with attorney Folmar why parents need to understand their state law regarding mandated psychiatric prescribing in children.  Listen here to the full interviewCurrently, many states mandate parents administer psychoactive medications to their children if diagnosed with a psychiatric condition.  Watch in horror, the video and understand why coerced psychiatric drug administration in children  should be abolished in all states of the union.

There are unintended consequences when children are prematurely medicated with psychoactive drug therapy prior to ruling out nutritional, environmental and physiological risk factors.  These risk factors may contribute to the onset of psychiatric symptoms which eliminates the need for psychoactive drug therapy.  Children deserve to have a voice in treatment options for behavioral conditions.
