Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed John D. O’Connor.
In the wake of Donald Trump’s resounding victory, the media are all reporting on the various blame victims allegedly responsible for Kamala Harris’s defeat. While the fingers are pointing at racism, misogyny and Trump disinformation as likely suspects, one set of suspects not identified is the legacy media itself. As I wrote in Postgate, once the media saw that journalism could influence the country’s most important issues, they sought to use this power to decide our most important political questions, whether by journalism biased or simply false. But in the 2024 election, after years of baseless charges against Trump, enabled by the media, the populace saw that it was being insulted and deceived. Anyone who supports Trump is not a Nazi, a racist or a misogynist, and moreover, any media outlet that tries to convince voters of defamatory depiction of any Trump voter will do more to help Trump than hurt him. Maybe soon the media will understand, and in the election’s post-mortem one hopes that the losing party will understand, how much a negative factor the collective media was.
Kevin Price introduces Price of Business show recurring guest, John D. O’Connor. O’Connor was the famed attorney of Watergate’s “Deep Throat.
According to PostGateBook.com “O’Connor served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Northern California from 1974-1979, representing the United States in both criminal and civil cases. Among his interesting assignments have been representation of the government during the OPEC oil embargo of the 1970s; writing Fifth Amendment and “state of mind” briefs for the prosecution in United States v. Patricia Hearst; representing the FDIC, FSLC and RTC during the savings and loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s; representing California Attorney General Dan Lungren in campaign-related litigation; defending R.J. Reynolds Tobacco in significant smoking and health litigation; representing Coach Don Nelson in litigation with Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban; and representing W. Mark Felt regarding the revelation of his identity as Deep Throat.”
