Airlines flew nearly 4.5 billion passengers on about 45 million flights in 2018, proving the airport to be a commonly visited place for many. However, while the quality of an airport can often make or break your travel experience, the best of the best can make you forget you’re even in an airport to begin with. Whether you fly purely for business purposes, leisure, or both, traveling through some of the world’s best airports can make for a memorable experience.

Brisbane Airport
Brisbane Airport has been named Australia’s number one airport in the Skytrax World Airport Awards for 2019, and there’s there’s no question why. Servicing 31 airlines that fly to several domestic and international destinations, Brisbane Airport accommodated 23.2 million passengers in 2017 alone. With 297 projects that include a terminal expansion and self-service and bag drop upgrades, the airport is also expecting a new runway to open in 2020. The new runway will take the runway system to even higher levels of efficiency, and allow the airport to have the highest capacity of any airport located in the Southern hemisphere.
Along with high levels of efficiency, Brisbane Airport offers a variety of amenities available throughout the terminals. This includes a unique bicycle-powered phone charging station, multiple dining options, and free shower facilities. Additionally, the airport features a wide variety of shops, including carry on luggage for sale at the store Carry On, and other stores that sell authentic Australian brands.
San Diego International
When it comes to the best airports in the United States, San Diego International Airport, located in San Diego, California tops national lists. With a plethora of amenities and restaurants, the airport is commended for its record of on-time flights, friendly staff, and it’s close proximity to downtown. Not only that, but the San Diego Airport also takes part in a program called Green Concessions at some dining establishments, which helps to reduce the usage of airport water and energy and minimize waste – making it a unique step in being a more eco-friendly airport.
Singapore Changi Airport
Rated the world’s best airport for the seventh consecutive year by Skytrax, Singapore’s Changi Airport can make any traveler forget they’re even in an airport. The airport features a variety of attractions and things to do in all four terminals, including a multitude of shopping and dining options, and even two movie theaters. In terms of efficiency, there’s a concept of “Fast and Seamless Travel,” or FAST, put into place, which makes the travel process as stress-free as possible. The Singaporean airport is also equipped with the world’s first butterfly garden (in an airport) and provides a peaceful and relaxing place to get away from the hustle and bustle of traveling.
Going to the airport is often seen as a stressful and tiresome event for many. However, when traveling through some of the world’s best airports, your travel stress may become a thing of the past with the award-winning facilities and attractions available.
