Thousands of Free Donuts Given Out on National Donut Day

Let’s celebrate: Today is National Donut Day!  Entenmann’s®  Bakery, a division of Bimbo Bakeries USA and producer of over 100 sweet baked goods, has partnered for the sixth year in a row with The Salvation Army for the annual National Donut Day holiday.  At an event at New York’s Greenway on Broadway between West 17th and West 18th Street, consumers will be able to enjoy 50 thousand free #Entenmanns Donuts and coffee.  Entenmann’s®  Bakery is also planning to give out 150 thousand single serve donuts across the  country.

This year’s festivities also include the rollout of the new Rich Frosted Party Sprinkled Donut Eight Pack, one 6 foot Rich Frosted Sprinkled Donut, and much more.  Fans can check out the Entenmann’s® YouTube page to see the making of the giant donut created by (“The King of  Huge”).

Entenmann’s®  Bakery is also presenting a check for $35,000 to The Salvation Army at the event hosted by Mr. Rich Frosted and Mrs. Crumb Donut, two of Entenmann’s®   iconic donuts, as well as The Salvation Army “Lassies” in historic costumes.  Consumers can still enter the sweepstakes on Entenmann’s®   Facebook page through July 2, 2016.  Over the course of the partnership, $165,000 has been raised to benefit the lives served by The Salvation  Army.

The Salvation Army established the holiday, which is held annually on the first Friday of June, in 1938 in Chicago.  The intention was to honor the “Donut Lassies” who served the treats to soldiers during World War I and to help raise funds necessary during the Great Depression.  This occasion solidified the donut as a permanent symbol of the services The Salvation Army continues to provide.  For more information on National Donut Day, please visit
