American Hostage Policy

Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed John D. O’Connor.

As we speak, America, through the Biden Administration, is actively pushing its hostage policy on Israel, using the power of funding and military aid. But is our policy wise?

The United States recently agreed to pay $6 billion to Iran for five hostages, thereby valuing them at over $1 billion apiece. Recently, under U.S. pressure, Israel agreed to a cease fire with Hamas, extremely valuable to both Hamas and its sponsor Iran, in exchange for only a portion of the hostages taken by Hamas. While the story of the hostage release is heartwarming, this exchange should be the last such exchange-for-ceasefire negotiated until there is a true breakthrough in the conflict, and Israel is negotiating from strength. If America continues to value hostages so dearly, one thing is certain: there will soon be more of them. Many may be taken within our own country, as our porous Southern border remains out of control. This is a true test of Western civilization strength and resolve.
