INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.
Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed attorney, Lee Kaplan.
Kevin Price, Editor at Large for USABR and Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business show, recently interviewed Lee Kaplan of the business law firm, Murphy Ball Stratton about the politics of Texas and nationwide. Kaplan is a long time contributor of the Price of Business show and brings important perspectives on politics, business, and the law.
On a recent Price of Business show, Host Kevin Price visited with attorney Lee Kaplan.
Oklahoma Republican Governor Kevin Stitt, now chairing the National Governors Association, broke with fellow Republicans by sharply criticizing President Trump’s use of Texas National Guard forces deployed to Chicago. (Politico)
Stitt said he supports the goals of enforcing law and federal immigration statutes—but argued that sending troops from one state into another over the objection of that state’s governor undermines core principles of federalism and state sovereignty. (AP News) He told The New York Times: “Oklahomans would lose their mind if [Illinois Gov.] Pritzker sent troops down to Oklahoma during the Biden administration.” (Democracy Now!)
More pointedly, Stitt framed this kind of interstate Guard deployment as a violation of a long-cherished GOP norm: the idea that local law enforcement should be decided locally. In Republican orthodoxy, governors and local authorities—not the executive branch in Washington—should control law enforcement and military responses within their jurisdictions. By sending a state’s National Guard into another state without consent, Stitt argues, that line is crossed. (Politico)
Stitt insisted that if federal troops were needed, they should be federalized under national command—not re-assigned state troops used to muscle in on another state’s policing. (KOKH) His stance is notable: a sitting Republican governor pushing back against a populist, interventionist use of force across state lines, rooted in conservative restraint and respect for state authority.
