Pizza Hut to Become Official Pizza of ESPN College Football

Pizza Hut has a long history of helping fans celebrate their passion for sports, and in its latest sports marketing move, the world’s largest pizza company will deliver on that once again as the Official Pizza Sponsor of ESPN College GameDay Built by The Home  Depot.

Recognized as the preeminent college football pre-game program in the country, ESPN College GameDay will further support the Pizza Hut mission of bringing even more excitement to the moments that sports fans love  most.

“We recognize that our fans are also huge college football fans, and we feel that there is no better sports property to reach these consumers than College GameDay,” said Jared Drinkwater, vice president of marketing, Pizza Hut. “From the television audience, to the volume of fans reached each week on the road, this program engages fans in ways most programs do not. We cannot wait to bring college football fans an exciting experience each week throughout the  season.”

Pizza Hut will activate around the fan signs that have become synonymous with GameDay. During the first College GameDay telecast of the season on Saturday, Sept. 5, in Dallas Ft. Worth, among the giant heads, meme-tastic mascot pics and playful puns scrutinizing the opposing team, there will be a sign that will unlock a special offer from Pizza Hut. College football fans who spot the Pizza Hut sign will be rewarded with a promo code for a FREE large one-topping pizza, available to the first 10,000  people.

“We’re rewarding college football fans in the best way by giving them the perfect game-watching food: pizza,” said Drinkwater.  “All they have to do is watch for the sign – an integral part of the College GameDay  experience.”

Fans who spot the code during the GameDay telecast on Saturday, Sept. 5, will have until Friday, Sept. 11, to order a free large one-topping pizza from www.PizzaHut.com. They’ll have to order fast, because the code will expire after 10,000  uses.

Each week during the GameDay season, those at home can share their signs on Twitter using #signupforgameday. One weekly winner will have their sign selected to become part of that week’s ESPN College GameDay telecast, as well as one year’s worth of Pizza Hut  pizza.

In addition to the sign promotion, Pizza Hut will be sampling pizza on-site each week the evening before the show. Fans can visit the Pizza Hut tent to make their own signs and compete to have their signs featured on the ESPN College GameDay  telecast.
