The number of unemployed women increased by 36,000 in February, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Last month, there were 4,670,000 unemployed women, which was up 36,000, from the 4,634,000 unemployed women in January.
There were 54,652,000 women, 16 or older, who did not participate in the nation’s labor force in February, meaning they neither held a job nor actively sought one, which brought the labor force participation rate for women to 57.2 percent, according to the BLS.
The unemployment rate for women in February was 6.4%, which remained the same from the previous month in January.
