INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.
Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed Jeremy Murphy.
Paramount Global has initiated a significant round of job cuts, impacting approximately 15% of its U.S. workforce, or around 2,000 employees. This decision was announced this week, and is part of a larger cost-cutting strategy to reduce annual expenses by $500 million.
The layoffs are expected to be phased in over several months, with the majority of positions eliminated by the end of September. Various departments, including marketing, communications, finance, legal, technology, and support functions, are affected.
This move comes as Paramount prepares for a merger with Skydance Media and amid industry-wide challenges facing traditional media companies. While Paramount+ has recently achieved profitability, the company seeks to streamline operations and improve its overall financial performance.
Murphy says it is “shocking” to see a once great media company to be limping along after decades of poor decision making.
According to a statement, “Jeremy Murphy is a sarcastic, embittered veteran of the media industry. Founder of 360bespoke, a respected boutique PR agency in New York, Murphy handles a full roster of clients in the lifestyle, beauty, fashion, and start-up fields. Previously, he was Vice President of Communications at CBS, where he worked for 14 years. There, he oversaw PR for many of its divisions and created its glossy magazine Watch. Murphy started as a journalist, working with Knight Ridder newspapers and Mediaweek. He is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University and lives in New York with his cat, Champers.”
