INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.

Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed Daniel A. Cotter, Attorney, and Counselor.

The Daniel Cotter Commentaries

Price and Cotter discuss the potentially far reaching implications to the Federal Trade Commission’s non compete agreement ban. Non disclosures play an important role in many different ways:

  1. Limiting Disclosure of Confidential Information: Employees, by the nature of their work, are privy to confidential information like trade secrets, customer lists, or unique processes. A non-compete agreement discourages them from taking this information to a competitor, potentially giving that competitor an unfair advantage.
  2. Preserving Competitive Edge: Companies invest significant resources in developing their products, services, and strategies. By restricting an employee from working for a competitor for a certain period, non-compete agreements can give the company time to exploit this advantage in the market before a former employee can use that knowledge to create competing products or strategies.
These are huge vulnerabilities for businesses now these agreements have been banned.

As a lawyer who started out of college as an accountant, and passed the CPA exam, Daniel Cotter tries to use that knowledge and business acumen to truly partner with his legal clients. He also spent more than 16 years of his 27 years as a lawyer in house. Clients want to have pragmatic, digestible, understandable information and advice, and someone who acts as a partner and trusted advisor.

He graduated with honors in accounting from Monmouth College and a law degree with honors from the John Marshall Law School.
