Putting a Stop to the Opioid Epidemic

By New Directions Behavioral Health, Special for  USDR

The opioid epidemic has been called the worst drug crisis in American history, destroying lives across the nation and cutting across lines of age, race, gender and wealth. Since 1999, opioid-related deaths have quadrupled with 91 Americans dying every day from an opioid overdose (including prescription opioids and heroin). More than six out of ten drug overdose deaths involve an  opioid.*

New Directions Behavioral Health, working with health plans and their pharmacy management partners, is taking action to curb the nation’s growing opioid  problem.
