In the past few weeks, the Center for Medical Progress has released a series of undercover videos showing senior Planned Parenthood officials discussing the alleged sales of aborted babies’ organs. Planned Parenthood received more than one-half billion dollars of tax payers’ money for the fiscal year 2013-2014, with a reported a total revenue out of more than $1.3 billion.
Family Research Council’s Arina Grossu, Director of the Center for Human Dignity, released the following statement concerning the latest videos:
“With the release of two more videos this week showing several other senior officials at Planned Parenthood callously and casually discussing sale of babies’ organs as if they were selling car parts, this country has been presented with another reminder of the ugly realities of the abortion industry. Even pro-abortion Americans have been shocked and sickened by what goes on behind closed doors at Planned Parenthood.
“Planned Parenthood, whose motto is ‘Care. No matter what,’ cares mostly about their bottom line. While engaging in the horrific practices of sifting through aborted babies’ parts to see which organs they can salvage and sell, they try to portray an image of respectable, compassionate health care providers.
“Thankfully, many compassionate Members of Congress have introduced a measure, S.1881, that would defund Planned Parenthood, freeing up more than $500 million for other organizations that continue to serve women’s health. Planned Parenthood’s annual reports reveal they have decreased their other services by half, while increasing their abortion numbers. By freeing-up these scarce federal dollars, women who need healthcare will be able to obtain a range of services at community health centers, hospitals, primary care physicians and other organizations.
“When will we decide we’ve had enough? How much more appalling evidence do we need from Planned Parenthood before we officially cut ties between the taxpayer and this abortion giant that scavenges baby parts and haggles for the cost of each ‘specimen’? Planned Parenthood must not receive one penny more of hard-earned taxpayer dollars.
“Family Research Council urges the Senate to act quickly and decisively and cut off government funding to this abortion giant,” concluded Grossu.
