'Family Units' Apprehended at U.S.-Mexico Border Up 412% in 2014

Statistics from Customs and Border Protection(CBP) reveal that for fiscal year 2014 (Oct. 1, 2013 to Aug. 31, 2014) the number of“family units” that have been apprehended at the Southwest border is up 412 percent from the number of family units taken into custody in fiscal year 2013.
In fiscal year 2013 (Oct. 1, 2012 to Aug. 31, 2013), CBP apprehended 12,908 people who come illegally across the U.S. border as a family unit. In fiscal year 2014, the total was 66,142 – or a 412 percent increase.
