INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.

Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed doctors Judy Ho (PhD) and Larry Newman (MD).

On a recent Price of Business, Host Kevin Price discussed the problem of Migraines with doctors Judy Ho (PhD) and Larry Newman (MD).
The 2022 Migraine and Mental Health Connection Survey of 1,100 people with migraine (PwM) and 302 healthcare professionals (HCPs – neurologists, headache specialists, and primary care physicians [PCPs]) conducted by the American Migraine Foundation found, overwhelmingly, that both groups strongly believe migraine and mental health impact each other, forming a cycle between feelings of worry, anxiety, and unpredictability of the next migraine attack. In fact, 84% of PwM and 92% of HCPs agree that worsening migraine disease leads to poorer mental health. And nearly all HCPs feel mental health difficulties can make it more challenging to effectively manage migraines. Unfortunately, a stigma surrounds migraine, which may be a barrier to discussing a person’s mental health related to the disease. Both migraine and mental health are invisible diseases that can make it harder for a person to discuss the disease. Three-quarters of PwM feel the stigma of having migraine would be compounded by sharing that they have a mental health condition, while less than half of HCPs see this as being an issue.Furthermore, nearly 75% of PwM wish that their HCP would bring up mental health with them. There is a marked discrepancy between HCPs and PwM on this topic as 70% of HCPs state that they ask about mental health conditions often, if not always. And now former co-host of “The Doctors” and triple Board-certified Clinical and Forensic Neuropsychologist Judy Ho, Ph.D., and Larry Newman, M.D (Chair of the American Migraine Foundation and Professor of Neurology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine) will be available to discuss the survey findings, the experiences of people with migraine as they balance their mental health, and how people with migraine and healthcare professionals can work together and feel empowered to have these important conversations. Judy Ho and Dr. Larry Newman can also talk about the following:How people with migraine and their healthcare professionals view the relationship between migraine and mental healthApproaches that can be used by a healthcare professional to address the stigma and manage both migraine and mental health
Current, relevant, and otherwise unanswered questions related to migraine awareness and mental health concerns, including understanding of the diseases, its burden, and barriers to treatment            RELATED
