Frequent Flyer Miles Becoming the Norm for Ticket Purchases

Not surprisingly, most travelers prefer to use their accrued frequent flyer miles toward more airline travel.   According to a survey conducted by GO Airport Express, a Chicago-based ground transportationprovider, a whopping 88 percent apply miles toward ticket purchases.

The company, which provides airport shuttles to and from O’Hare International Airport and  Midway Airports, polled travelers nationwide: more than 380 people responded.

Just six percent of participants reported using their miles toward hotels. Four percent use them for products and one percent donate them to charity.

“Our monthly surveys are designed to take the pulse of the traveling public,” says John McCarthy, president, GO Airport Express.  “These help us identify their preferences, information which not only helps us improve services, but can be valuable to the industry in general.”

GO Airport Express, one of the oldest companies in Chicago, traces its founding to 1853 and the Parmelee Transportation Company, which provided a carriage service between Chicago’s railroad stations and the downtown hotels. The GO Group LLC, is the nation’s largest airport transportation provider, serving some 60 airports in North America, Mexico, the Caribbeanand Europe and transporting more than 13 million passengers per year.
