As the Department of Education scrambles to find resources for teachers and students, remote learning is already adopting new procedures and strategies. With the school year seemingly over for students across the nation, new elements of teaching and learning have been adopted as the new normal. Remote learning techniques are helping to create a continuation of learning for students and are helping to keep our teachers funded for work efforts. The pairing of these two heads is creating a dominant factor in the education sector and keeping the threat of fall-off far from the discussion. Below are a few of the ways that remote learning is adapting for this period in time, as well as some of the tendencies and strategies that are being tested to say face.

Researching Government Websites

Most government officials are pairing their coronavirus efforts with all sectors of industry, leaving conversations open for officials and heads of these public sectors. The education sector remains near the top of the list, right next to health concerns and financial companies. Government websites have added links and resources for students and teachers to embrace. Most of these websites were created to offer continued, education advances. Keeping students on the path to success during these trying times is crucial.

The Department of Education has also spent funds to keep students connected. Some students and teachers are limited in terms of internet access and material access. Since schools and public libraries are currently closed, there remain little options when it comes to gaining research materials, textbooks, and learning manuals. The government has offered some educational programs that will loan laptops, internet access, and textbooks to students during this time. The prospective student or teacher can research these options via state websites and government websites. Some of these offers require a registration process, but these resources are being gifted with limited information required from the consumer. Each state has explored these options from a different approach, so checking with your state websites will create a more solidified path to obtain these materials and resources.

Video Conferencing and Online Learning Portals

Video conferencing tools have been upped in usage across all sectors of industry. With stay-at-home orders spread to over 75% of the nation, workplace conditions have utilized these applications and services to keep the ball rolling. The same emissions are being seen within the public sector. Zoom video conferencing tools offer face-to-face implications that can be expanded to larger groups. Adding the implementation of conference design to school work helps to create a virtual classroom. If applications and video conferencing is not supported via laptops or desktop computers, teachers are using video recording tools to share messages and content with their students. Virtual lesson plans can be sent via video attachments and recordings, allowing students to watch video content for specific lesson plans. While this limits the interaction between student and instructor, it allows for the setting that can be noted within larger classrooms or lecture halls.

Online learning portals are also receiving boosts for traffic increases. Most public and private education systems have created online portals for parents to check grades, receive progress reports, or explore releases from school officials. Some education systems have implemented new links and access portals that create virtual tracking options and course options. Most of the basic information that can be delivered via in-person classrooms can be forwarded to the online space, allowing students to access content without having to tote a workbook or a textbook. These courses can also be paced for different learning styles, allowing educators to keep all students up to speed in preparation for the coming school year.

Cloud-based systems and submission portals have also been heavily utilized during these periods. The cloud-based systems give students the opportunity to submit digital assignments and gain access to upcoming assignments. This portal is also utilized by instructors to successfully access the submissions sent via their students. Teachers are also using online access portals to offer blocks of tutoring sessions or face-to-face conversations with students to go over any problems or issues they have run into when completing their assignments. Many of these strategies are being applied as the new normal for remote learning strategies and opportunities
