Today the Hispanic Leadership Fund (HLF) released a fact sheet on the state of Puerto Rico under the reckless leadership of Governor Alejandro García Padilla and his administration. The release comes as Governor García Padilla extends his emergency visit to Washington.
“Congress should not be fooled by the latest facts and figures Governor García Padilla and his administration are peddling around the halls of Congress,” said Mario H. López, President of HLF. “Puerto Rico is an economic and fiscal mess under García Padilla. We urge Congress to institute a financial control board over Puerto Rico.”
HLF has launched an educational campaign (see HLF ad in Politico) to highlight the failure of Governor Alejandro García Padilla and his administration, especially the wide-spread economic pain he has brought upon the people of Puerto Rico.
Governor García Padilla is meeting with key Members of Congress, including Representative Rob Bishop, Chairman of the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee, and Senators Roger Wicker and Richard Blumenthal, of Mississippi and Connecticut, respectively. HLF recently sent these Members of Congress a letter urging them to carefully review the facts and support establishing of a financial control board over the Island.
