The latest update to popular health and fitness app Pacer Pedometer brings the app’s global community together in a new and big way. The update includes virtual “Events” that add a fresh dimension to the app by letting users from all over the world compete in virtual events for ranking, badges and bragging rights.

Pacer has long allowed users to find friends within the app based on common interests such as running or weight loss, but the latest update adds a fun twist to the community.
In keeping with Pacer’s mission to be the fitness app for users of all levels, the designers have included events for users of all stripes. For runners there is a weekly virtual 5K race, for walkers there is a 10k-a-day step challenge, and for those looking to push their limits there is a monthly distance challenge which lets users see how many total miles they can rack up in a single month.
Co-founder Mike Caldwell explains, “With virtual events, we wanted to give all of our users something fun and motivating to help kick-start 2017, but it also had to be completely consistent with the spirit of the Pacer community. And that means we designed our events to be not just competitive but also supportive, suitable for all levels, and global.”

Pacer’s online community organizers will be organizing virtual events and challenges all through 2017 to help users stay motivated in reaching their health goals for the year. They will also be distributing virtual prizes and chances for special recognition to participants.
