Published as a special issue every December, “The Hot 100” from Internet Retailer rings in a new year of enthusiasm for e-commerce by profiling the 100 most-innovative e-retailers as determined by Internet Retailer’s editors and top industry sources. Now in its eighteenth edition, the goals for the Hot 100 are to celebrate e-retail trailblazers and inspire online retailers to better serve consumers via the web and mobile technology. These are the online retailers people will be talking about in 2017.
The 2017 Hot 100 e-retailers are sorted into seven categories based on what makes the retailer innovative, ranging from its business model to omnichannel execution to use of cutting-edge technology, like virtual reality. Each Hot 100 profile details what makes the e-retailer notable, such as category disruption, outsized growth or top-notch marketing skills. How Hot 100 e-retailers have spotted and pursued opportunities, tackled challenges and come out on top provide valuable lessons other web and omnichannel merchants can learn from.
Profiles include key data on each retailer, such as web traffic, age—some entrants are less than a year old—and 2015 online sales (when available). Additionally, the Hot 100 lists solutions providers across 30 categories—the vital behind-the-scenes players whose technologies and services help their e-retail clients succeed.
