Savannah is the most expensive destination in the state of Georgia for travelers. That’s according to a survey from TravelMag.com that compared the cost of lodging for 20 popular destinations in the Peach  State.

The survey specifically established for each destination the amount an overnight guest will have to spend to stay in the least expensive room, on average, during the months of April and May 2015, which can be considered the high season for Georgia. Only such hotels or inns rated at least three stars and those well located in relation to their respective city center have been taken into account by the  survey.

With an average nightly rate of $192 for the least expensive double room, Savannah clearly leads the rankings. Coming in second most expensive is Tybee Island. This easternmost point in Georgia is located only a few miles from Savannah. An average price of$164 per night secured it the survey’s number two spot. Saint Simons Island takes the third spot with an average nightly rate of  $143.

Augusta ranks among the least expensive destinations in the state, but it gets very pricey for the Masters Golf Tournament. According to Nicole Haney from TravelMag.com, hotels in and around Augusta are raising their rates by 200% to 300% during the Masters. For a hotel rated at least 3 stars, an Augusta visitor will have to spend at least $200 per night throughout the duration of the tournament.

The following table shows the 10 most expensive destinations in Georgia this spring. The prices shown reflect the average rate for each destination’s cheapest available double room for the time period spanning April 1 to May 31,  2015.

  1. Savannah $192
