Words Matter

Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed John D. O’Connor.

Presently, the world is reeling the explosive end to the recent ceremony intended to seal the minerals deal between America and Ukraine. This is not the first time that a few words have had lasting consequences affecting world peace. The original American invasion of Iraq was caused in turn by Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait, all caused by a few  unfortunate words of a American ambassador to strongman Saddam Hussein.

The result was decades of conflict. After the disaster of 9/11, America, suspecting Iraqi support for 9/11, used as a case for invasion of Iraq its seeking of weapons of mass destruction. President Bush in a State of the Union address, uttered a famous 16 words averring to British findings that Saddam sought uranium in Africa. While in fact these words were true, critics of the war claimed they were lies to push America into war. Later, when Russia massed troops on the border of Ukraine, a few unfortunate words from President Biden gave Putin green light to invade. Now President Zelensky is endangering peace by his use of words, and his failure to utter one: “apologize’”.
